OPTION A: Cow Working Basics (Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm)*
If you've dreamed of working cows but aren't quite sure how to begin—or whether you want to brush up your existing skills—this session is for you. Jess will teach you (and your horse) how to safely and effectively work with cows... and how to have fun doing it! This gentle introduction (or refresher) to cow work will help horses and riders build a solid foundation that will serve them for years to come. Best of all, the skills gained during this clinic extend to all other riding disciplines. So, whether you simply want to give cow work a try for a weekend, or need a little "tune up," the focus, leg control, and seat control from this workshop will improve your riding experience every time you put your foot in the stirrup.
*NO prior cow working experience needed. In addition, clinic cows will be treated humanely and not overworked.
OPTION B: Trail Riding Techniques (Friday and Saturday from 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm)
When most people hear the term "trail horses," they envision a string of sleepy head-to-tail steeds plodding down a level trail. But, a safe and reliable trail horse actually needs a multitude of refined skills and the mindset to remain willing and calm under a variety of conditions and in the face of various obstacles.
This clinic will help properly prepare your horse to be a trail horse (in the best sense of the words). Jess will guide you through exercises and real-life scenarios that help your horse overcome fear, use its body effectively on steep terrain, and navigate common trail obstacles like bridges, bogs, and forests.
The right time to hone these skills is before you find yourself out the trail, far from home, facing a difficult situation. If you want to trail ride with your horse in the future—or if your equine partner needs a trail tune-up—this clinic is for you!
